Pâtissiers
The time of pineapple tarts is near again. (I recall a post around this time last year with said-lovely munchies in title.)
Spent last weekend baking, to heart's content. :D So little sis could have a tub of homemade goodies to eat over CNY in cold, grey England.
Mum bought the pineapples (7 of them!) on Sat morning and the three of us got down to the tasks of peeling, removing the 'eyes', grating and finally cooking (over slow heat for about 5 hours).
On Sun morning, we went to my aunt's to make the pastry (You don't really want to know how much butter goes into that!) and bake the tarts.
It wasn't until late afternoon before we finished our last batch of tarts. And if I may say so myself, all of them turned out beautifully!!! Crumbly, melt-in-your-mouth base with pineapple jam that has a touch of tartness. Mmmmm...
Look, a whole table-ful cooling down before we packed them:
My cute (though he gets on my nerves sometimes) nephew (who kept getting into the way cos' he wanted to see) and my sis playing with him while we were waiting for the tarts to come out of oven.
Later that evening back home, after a cat-nap, sis and I watched 'Le Pacte des Loupes' ('Brotherhood of the wolves') on arts central. We both really liked the film. (I think I'm getting my sis into more French movies now. hee)
Damn, I just realised I had missed a whole string of French films aired every Sunday of this month on arts central. :(
