Witnessed my supervisor decapitate a few cages of rats with a 'rat gallow' today... The rats didn't scream, or rather, as my supervisor explained, their windpipe is constricted when he pressed their heads down so they can't make any sound. The procedure is fast and hopefully, the rats don't suffer. Then a few of the researchers will cut open the gut of the rats' headless bodies to remove the prostrate gland, the seminal vesicles and the anal sphincter muscle for measurement. Not a very pretty sight. But one that I'll hafta get used to.
Am still looking for an apartment. Will be viewing a couple of them tonight. Hope something works out soon.
